On the map, Lebanon is situated at the eastern end of the Mediterranean. In the early days it found its prosperity as the link between overland caravan routes from the East and the sailing ships of the West.

Mezze, is what you can probably translate to as Starters and it consists of a large variety of food, displayed in small dishes. It is an important part of the Lebanese social life. It is a leisurely, relaxing period in which eating and drinking is accompanied by conversation.
